on my last holiday to phuket i met a lovely thai girl who worked in a bar , i will not describe her as being a bargirl because she was more special then that , her name was Fan and she worked in that particular bar with her twin sister ,fan and her sister were twenty years old and shared a small apartment in a block not far from the tourist area , fans mother had died two years earlier and her father had soon re-married but her stepmother had a gambling problem and had gambled away the family home , fan and her sister decided that they would earn enough money to buy back the family home and land that had been lost , in two years they had achieved the goal of buying back the family home and land .
i spent 10 days with fan , she never asked for anything and i just knew that i could trust her , we travelled to koh phi phi and i rented a nice bungalow for us , fan was honest and if we had more time together i know that i would of fallen in love with her .
fans hobby was knitting , she sent me a lovely scarf that she had knitted for me , i still have it and it will always remind me of fan and her uphill struggle to live a decent life . fan didnt like working in the bar but did it because it was the only way to get back what her stepmother had lost and i will always respect her , i just wish i had kept in contact with her.
